Quain courtyard... a small outdoor space I found on UPenn's campus, hidden in their Levine building. I technically don't have access to it, which adds an extra layer of fun. I scouted this space because it's semi enclosed, contains a lot of different materials, foliage, and overall interesting atmosphere.
The first thing I did was take a small Ricoh Theta and quickly captured about 35 photos around the space. This was actually done back in March when I was looking at a couple of potential options for my next project.
I wanted to experiment with 3DF Zephyr's 360 tools. It can take in a 360 equirectangular image and chop it up into a 4-6 sided cube, a step called decomposing. Each decomposed photo is appended with "_up" "_down" or whatever.
a front view
all of the bottom view images were me (!) holding the camera. with a fresh set of nails on, but that's not important.
The geometry is by no means useable, but I would describe as surprisingly okay quality.
You can see each of the blue camera icons resemble a cube, as it is actually six cameras aligned together.
This will help me plan for the space.
